Mobile users are now pretty much on par with what desktop users enjoy

Last year, Google made it possible to log into Gmail with several accounts at the same time, in fact it made it possible to sign in to many Google services with multiple accounts. Now, it's finally expanding this to its mobile version of Gmail.

Mobile users will have the ability to log into multiple accounts and switch between them via a dedicated UI.

This could come in really handy when you use one account for work and another for your personal needs and so on.

It's also useful when several people, family members perhaps, share the same device, which, while rarer for mobile devices, does happen.

"Just like on your desktop, you can now to sign into multiple accounts simultaneously," Dominic Leung, mobile software engineer at Google, announced.

"To sign into an additional account, click on the account switcher at the bottom of the threadlist, then click 'Sign into an another account.' You can quickly switch between accounts by selecting the desired account from the Accounts menu," he explained.

Google debuted multiple sign-in support more than a year ago. While not available for all Google products, users can sign into a different Google account without signing out of the other, and then switch between the two with a couple of clicks rather than having to log out, log in and then back again.

Arguably, the feature is the best fit for Gmail as there are plenty of people who have more than one Gmail account that they want to access at any time, while maintaining their separate identities.

With more and more people relying on their mobile phones to keep up with emails, it makes sense that the mobile version of the site gets more features geared at power users.

Gmail Apps users will rejoice that multiple sign-in support is available in the mobile Gmail site for them as well. At this point, the mobile web version of Gmail is pretty much on par with the desktop one.
