Gmail is surely one of the most popular e-mail solutions on the Internet because it is designed and promoted by Google as the most secure way for sending and receiving messages. The service was released on April 1, 2004 and was available only by invitation, Gmail being regarded as the mail solution that offers the biggest file storage size. Since the release date, the product was periodically updated with new attractive features meant to increase the number of the users. Recently, the company presented the most important update ever made for Gmail, making the service a public beta so no invitation is required to register for a new account. Although the announcement was made some days ago, the company published a blog post today to inform users that Gmail is now available worldwide so it seems like the free sign-up was accessible only for some countries.
