Although Mail Fetcher, a special Gmail function, was released a long time ago, the Mountain View company is encouraging consumers to use it, probably because many of you aren't attracted by it. Personally, I use Mail Fetcher and I found it really amazing because it works quite fine and gets the email messages from numerous accounts in a matter of seconds. If you didn't know, Mail Fetcher is a function implemented into Gmail that is able to retrieve messages from up to 5 POP3 accounts and allow you to read them straight into the interface of the Google mail service.

Today, Shirley Liu, Strategist, Consumer Operations, encourages users to configure their mail accounts with Mail Fetcher and send or receive messages using the Gmail capabilities.

"As a member of the Gmail support team, I get to read testimonials from people about why they love Gmail. Many of you have lamented the fact that your work, school, and other email accounts aren't more like Gmail. Why can't all my messages magically appear in my Gmail account? Well, we can't do magic, but we do offer free POP-in access with Mail Fetcher," the Google employee said.

"Just note that the account you're fetching from must have POP3 access. Some providers, including Yahoo! Mail and Hotmail, don't provide free POP3 access, but many ISP email services do."

If you want to configure Mail Fetcher to work with multiple POP3 accounts, you should login into your Gmail account and click on Settings. Choose the Accounts tab and press the Add another mail account button in order to enter the details about your email solutions. Please keep in mind that Gmail also allows you to send messages with any of the configured accounts so it works quite similar with a classic downloadable mail client.
