Google just released a few minutes ago version 4.0 of its Gmail app for Apple’s iOS mobile operating system, introducing the ability to archive and reply to email directly from iOS’ built-in notification section by swiping to left on a message.

These are called quick actions and will be available in Gmail 4.0 for iOS starting today. They will work from both the lock screen or when opening the notification system from the top of the screen.

Additionally, Gmail 4.0 implements a new attachment viewer that allows users to open attachments from Gmail into any other application that supports the respective file format. Similarly, the new update also lets you attach documents and photos to Gmail from other apps.

Gmail for iOS lets users fully control their Gmail accounts

Gmail for iOS is a modern and useful application that allows iPhone owners to fully control their Gmail accounts. While iOS has built-in support for Gmail in its Mail app, Gmail for iOS lets users use up to 5 Gmail accounts and easily switch between them.

The application sends notifications for new mail and it integrates perfectly with the built-in notification center of iOS, as well as with the lock screen and badge components. It offers search predictions as you type, support for profile pictures, and support for sending and receiving attachments.

Among other highlights of Gmail for iOS, we can mention support for threaded conversations, support for organizing email messages by labeling, starring, archiving, or deleting, support for responding to Google Calendar invites, support for custom scribbles, and auto-complete for contacts stored on your device when sending emails.

Gmail 4.0 is now available for all iOS users that use iOS 7.1 or later, so make sure that you head over to the App Store app of your iPhone or iPad device and update the application. Gmail for iOS has been optimized by Google for iPhone 5, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus.
