According to the newly established agreement, Glu is to develop games for mobiles that are based on several hit Codemasters franchises, thus extending the reach of Codemasters brands in the mobile space.

The agreement follows a partnership through which Glu will publish the mobile edition of Brian Lara Inernational Cricket 2007. Several major video gaming brands that include Colin McRae Rally, Operation Flashpoint, TOCA Race Driver and LMA Manager will slowly be heading towards mobiles as a result of a new strategic global partnership between Codemasters and Glu Mobile. The two companies announced their partnership at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona.

"This relationship with Codemasters brings an exciting set of franchises to our growing portfolio," said Kristian Segerstrale, managing director of EMEA, Glu Mobile. "We're delighted to partner with a leading publisher like Codemasters and look forward to working together to develop great mobile games and innovative ways of marketing them to consumers together."

According to Matt Davies, Director of Codemasters Mobile, "As part of Codemasters' strategic drive across all platforms of digital entertainment, Glu's momentum in the market was key for us in creating this alliance. The affiliation will deliver Codemasters' brands with a proven sales and distribution network that will leverage our content to the growing wireless consumer base. As technology advances, Codemasters will focus its development expertise in embracing wireless as the functionality between formats to add to the overall gaming experience"

The first mobile game to be made available for mobile according to the agreement will be LMA Manager 2008, based on the official League Managers Association football management game for PC. The football management game will be released on mobile in autumn this year.
