Popular mobile games publisher Glu Mobile and Chinese media conglomerate TOM Group have just announced that they have signed an agreement to strenghten their presence on the Chinese mobile games market.

Under the agreement, Glu Mobile and TOM Group will develop a smartphone storefront community for the Chinese market.

Following the new partnership Glu's high quality social mobile games will be combined with TOM Group's mobile internet cloud experience and e-commerce infrastructure that company owns in China.

Furthermore, both companies will bring their own innovative assets to the partnership which is mainly focused on developing a dedicated “glu.cn” website and turn it into a leading smartphone community portal in China.

This partnership with TOM Group is a significant step in our global strategy and will accelerate our smartphone growth in China. glu.cn is scheduled to launch in Q4 2011 and we believe it will become quickly recognized by the Chinese gaming community as the leading destination for high quality smartphone and tablet games,” said Glu President and CEO, Niccolo de Masi.

It appears that the collaboration between the two companies marks a key milestone for TOM Group, which will be unlocking the true power of its cloud-based cross-device open-platform system.

In addition, the partnership could be TOM Group's stepping stone to become a landing platform for its international partners that want to localize their technology and applications and tap into the Chinese market.

By cooperating with the renowned social mobile game publisher Glu Mobile, we are ready to thrill Chinese gamers with the trendiest and most entertaining, high-tech mobile game entertainment. All provided in an engaging community for users to interact and play with each other,” said Ken Yeung, chief executive officer and executive director of TOM Group.

Glu Mobile hopes to strengthen its presence on the Chinese mobile market and deliver some of its best titles via the newly announced “glu.cn” portal.
