The external design is quite an important selling point for any portable device but, from time to time, the manufacturers of various such products tend to overact just a little bit. And this seems to be exactly the case with the latest Bluetooth GPS receiver presented by the GlobalTop company and dubbed G66 Touch,
since the device has a very stylish and interesting external design, with an interesting touchscreen system.

Thus, the G66 sports a very slim and stylish form-factor, with a very elegant, yet fingerprint-prone piano-black finish, which will most likely appeal to PS3 or even iPhone owners. Moreover, the device is controlled via what the company calls a "hidden touch-sensitive touch pad", although I'm not quite sure what they understand by "hidden", since the control buttons are pretty visible.

However, if we overlook the design, the G66 is not exactly that impressive, as it provides a rather basic GPS receiver configuration. Thus, it is powered by an MTK GPS chipset that provides 51-channel all-in-view tracking, and sports a built-in active patch antenna with a sensitivity level of around -158 dBm, quite enough in order to allow it to attain a position accuracy of around 3 meters.

As the name says it, the device from GlobalTop communicates to PDAs, smartphones or portable computing systems via Bluetooth, as its built-in module provides an overall functioning range of around 10 meters. Moreover, it is powered by a rechargeable Li-Ion battery, and is also very portable, measuring around 78.5 mm x 49.7 mm x 6.8 mm, at a weight of around 30 grams.

As all of the Bluetooth GPS receivers from GlobalTop Technology, the G66 also comes bundled with a 7-day trial of the the Nokia smart2go mapping software, so that the users will be able to get a clue on how to use this thing. Unfortunately, there's no word on the pricing yet, but we'll keep you posted as soon as we find anything related to the subject.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
