They will however become less frequent, on average

Global warming will definitely raise temperatures around the world, but that does not mean that there will be no more cold months during the winter. In fact, it is entirely possible to have extremely cold months in certain years, due to the changing environment.

University of Helsinki climate scientist Jouni Räisänen and his team determined in a new study that cold months will become significantly less frequent than they were over the past decades. He explains that there is incompatibility between global warming and cold weather.

The worldwide phenomenon does not necessarily manifest itself by increasing average winter temperatures, and this is an important point to remember. “Cold months still occur in a warmer world. They just happen quite infrequently,” the team leader explains.

Though counterintuitive, the findings are in tune with those made by the most recent investigations on the future influences climate change will have on our planet, ScienceNow reports.
