Cory Monteith, the talented and handsome actor who became an international star thanks to Fox’s “Glee,” was found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver, the AP reports. He was 31.

Monteith, who had never made a secret of his long and difficult battle with drug addiction, had checked into the hotel on July 6 and was supposed to check out this Saturday, at noon.

When he did not, hotel staff entered the room and found him: police say that he had been dead for hours. He was alone.

Though police have already stated that there is no suspicion of foul play, an investigation is underway to determine the cause of death. People with whom Monteith went out the night before are being questioned.

In April this year, the actor announced that he had checked into rehab for drug addiction. It wasn’t his first time, but he said he was committed to getting better, a decision his co-star and real-life girlfriend Lea Michele publicly supported.
