14 DAY TRIAL // Not too long ago, a company based in Tokyo, Japan, introduced the world to a pair of downright bizarre glasses that can be worn by two people at the same time and that supposedly facilitate smooching.
The glasses, a photo of which is available next to this article, comprise a pair of lenses that are connected to two pairs of arms each of which faces an opposite direction.
According to the folks at Blinc Vase, these so-called Kiss Eyeglasses make it possible for those who don't excel at the art of seeing to lock lips for minutes, maybe even hours on end without having to worry that their spectacles will get in the way.
What's more, the glasses are said to allow folks who simply can't see anything without their glasses to stare into the eyes of their better half while busy smooching them.
“We are all for bringing people closer together and these glasses do just that. Not only can they lean in close for a kiss, they can see who they’re kissing very, very clearly,” said a spokesperson for the company, as cited by Oddity Central.
By the looks of it, these Kiss Eyeglasses sell for an impressive $650 (about €520) a pair. However, they have a surprisingly wide fanbase in Japan. They've even been purchased by people who don't yet have a sweetheart.
“They’re very cool and a lot of fun, which is why I bought a pair. Now all I have to do is find and start dating a woman who has exactly the same glasses prescription as me,” one Mitsuto Otani told the press in an interview.
Admittedly, there is little doubt that these glasses do in fact bring people together. However, I have to ask: what if one wants to move their head to the left and right when kissing? What then?
Besides, I still can't figure out how these glasses can facilitate smooching without causing people to bump noses with one another. Simply put, I for one wouldn't be caught dead buying a pair.
