Jennifer Ellison, well-known British singer, dancer, television personality and, last but not least, glamour model, gave birth to her first child in February this year. While pregnant, Jennifer paid no attention to the number of calories she ingested daily and refused to work out, which translated in her going up five dress sizes. Now, a little over 3 months after birth, the star has already dropped about 20 kg.
Speaking with
Closer magazine, Ellison says that, for the first time in her life, she’s proud of the body she has because she’s never had to work this hard to look good. Coming from a woman who, at one point, was featured in all mainstream lads’ mags, and who always looked stunning no matter what she put on (or didn’t put on, for that matter), this is clearly quite a statement. Moreover, Jennifer says she did it by eating healthy and working out more.
“I was a size 8 when I fell pregnant and a size 18 after – I just ballooned. I ate what I wanted and didn’t exercise, so of course I put on weight. I put on 4st. I was like a hippo! I’ve lost 3st thanks to my Closer diet and workouts – and I feel great. Even though I’ve posed in all sorts of men’s mags in the past, I’ve never felt really proud of my body until now because I’ve never had to work to make it look good. I lost this weight the old-fashioned way – a healthy diet and exercise,” the star explains for Closer.
“Bobby was 9lb, so he was a big baby,' says Jen, who shares the childcare with her husband Robbie Tickle. But I still had a huge bump after I had him – seeing my body for the first time after the birth was a bit of a shock! Most celeb mums leave the hospital in their size 8 jeans, but I was still in maternity dresses and huge knickers! I can’t believe how good it felt to watch the weight come off. It was a real incentive to keep going – I’ve had the odd day off from my diet, but overall I’ve been really good,” Jennifer adds.
After the 6 weeks she was not allowed to workout, she also needed some time to get fully motivated, and to understand that she shouldn’t take criticism to heart and let it bring her down. Once that was out of the way, Jennifer started doing boxing, Pilates and cardio with a personal trainer, while also making sure she ate only what was good for her and the baby, but which also prevented her from packing extra inches around the waistline.
