14 DAY TRIAL // One thing we can state for sure is that false eyelashes are definitely not up any woman's street, for various reasons - the first being that there's something rather unnerving about the thought of gluing a piece of plastic so close to your eyes. Also, you might have the rather strange feeling that you're about to return to the 1960s, when the false eyelashes craze first swept the fashion world. However, for those of us who can't boast naturally thick eyelashes, there comes a time when we might start feeling that not even several coats of the latest, most revolutionary mascara can do its job aptly and give us those long, feminine eyelashes most women crave. As a result, that box of fake eyelashes might start looking more and more appealing by the day, and just in case you want to give it a shot, here are a few useful tips and tricks that will help you get started.
The holy trinity of false eyelash application is patience, patience, patience. You're bound to ruin more than a few pairs of eyelashes before you'll be satisfied with the results, however, the good news is that once you get the hang of it, what originally seemed like an ordeal will become a breeze. Another important thing to bear in mind is that there are actually two types of false lashes - individual and strip ones. Both varieties are glued to your upper eyelid using a specially designed, cosmetic glue. The difference between them is that you will glue the individual ones only in the places where your own natural lashes are sparse, while the strip type provide a second, ready-made string of lashes that you will apply onto the full length of your upper lid, along the natural lash line.
Before you start putting on strip lashes, make sure you have a small pair of scissors at hand, as well as a toothpick and a magnifying mirror along with the standard kit of fake eyelashes and the duo surgical glue. It's important to remember that you have to measure the eyelash strip against the length of your upper lid and trim it in case it's slightly longer. Don't try to transfer the glue from its tub directly onto the fake lashes. Pour a few drops onto a clear, clean surface, then use the toothpick to transfer the glue onto the inner side of the lash strip. Make sure you place the false lashes right above your natural lash line, pressing them and your real lashes together as you put them on (you could use one of those long wooden sticks manicurists use to push back cuticles).
As an added tip, once you get the lashes on, you can use a pencil eyeliner to camouflage the thin band that keeps the fake lashes together. Individual lashes are applied using exactly the same procedure, the only difference being that you will need a pair of tweezers to dip each individual lash into the glue before putting it on.
