According to Djimon Hounsou, Russell Crowe's co-star in Gladiator, a sequel to the Oscar-winning film is currently developing. Hounsou, who played slave Juba in the 2000 movie, said there was "definitely the desire to do a sequel".
Dijmon confessed producers are still working on the script and casting decisions. Due to the terrible Russell Crowe's death as Miximilian at the end of the movie, Hounsou said it will be hard for the writers to find a way to bring him back to life.
"They're not happy about what they have for now, so they're still working on it. It's still in development," said Hounsou, adding that he hopes he'll still play Juba. "I would probably be in the center of it as one of the leads," he said.
The original "Gladiator," directed by Ridley Scott and released in 2000, took in more than $187 million at the box office in the United States and Russell Crowe won a Oscar for his part.
