Supposedly have an excellent price-performance ratio but no numbers are given

After news of faulty coolers from one company and a massive, graphics card-aimed model from another, GlacialTech is stepping up to announce two such items of its own.

The first month of the fourth quarter of 2011 has only just begun, but already the cooling industry is showing a significant level of activity, even if not all of it is fortuitous.

Indeed, complications have arisen in the form of Corsair discovering that a number of Hydro H100 coolers have fan control problems.

Nonetheless, there is no shortage of new product releases, as Arctic made it clear with the Accelero Twin Turbo Cooler for Radeon HD 6990 Graphics Cards.

Now, GlacialTech is adding its voice to the market of cooling devices, introducing the Igloo 5620 Silent and Igloo 5620 PWM.

Named after those homes built out of ice blocks and snow, the coolers are said to have an excellent price-performance ratio.

The actual prices aren't revealed, however, so users will have to keep guessing until shops add them to their shelves, whenever that happens.

The newcomers will work on LGA 775, LGA 1155, LGA 1156 and LGA 1366 CPUs from Intel, as well as AM3 and FM1 central processing units from Advanced Micro Devices.

The 92 fans are really the only difference between the two, since the Silent has a 1,200 RPM (rotations per minute) model of 20 dBA sound output and the PWM has an 800 to 2,300 RPM fan of 30dBA.

Other specifications include a weight of 320 grams, a size of 100 (W) x 62 (L) x 135 (H) mm (3.93 x 2.44 x 5.31 inches) and a pair of 6mm copper heatpipes each.

Finally, the direct touch technology is used (the heatpipes directly contact the CPU) and the product bundle includes a thermal compound.

It falls to users to decide if the two heatpipes are enough for serious desktops that have multi-core chips.
