“She’s the most beautiful pregnant woman I dressed in my career,” he says

The MET Gala 2013 is over and done with, but people still can’t seem to be able to stop talking about Kim Kardashian’s awful floral Givenchy dress. Even the man responsible for it, Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy, is speaking out to defend it – and Kim along with it.

As we also informed you at the time, this was Kim’s first year at the prestigious event, which is oftentimes likened to the “Oscars of fashion.”

The theme of the night was “PUNK: From Chaos to Couture,” and Kim showed up wearing a floral dress not much different from an old sofa upholstery, with matching (as in, of the same fabric) shoes and sleeve-gloves.

She was, as some fashion gurus put it, a vision from your worst bridesmaid sartorial nightmare.

If you too thought that, you’ve been looking at the dress wrong because Tisci says the flowers symbolize motherhood, the ultimate tribute to a woman with child.

“She is a really good friend, and I am very happy she came to the Met for the first time. I love Kim. Doing maternity was fantastic. I wanted to have a Kim Kardashian moment, because Kim always supports me,” Tisci says in a new interview cited by Us Weekly.

She is the future wife of a really good friend of mine [Kanye West, emphasis ours]. I wanted to have a moment of family... Kim, Kanye and the baby. It will be a family that I will be close to,” he adds.

“I have dressed many pregnant women in the past. People can say what they want. To me, pregnancy is the most beautiful thing in the world, and when you celebrate something, you give people flowers. I think she looked amazing. She was the most beautiful pregnant woman I dressed in my career,” the designer explains.

On the red carpet, Kim described the dress as “romantic punk,” though many agree there was absolutely nothing punk about it.

Word online has it that she asked Tisci for the gloves because she didn’t like the way her arms looked in the dress.
