Giuliana Rancic fights back at those saying she can’t conceive because of her weight

E! correspondent and reality television star Giuliana Rancic is taking a break from IVF treatments after still not being able to conceive, and is considering adoption. Still, that’s not to say she can forget about people blaming her weight for infertility issues.

Back in March last year, Rancic got into a very heated exchange of words with The View host Whoopi Goldberg over whether her weight had anything to do with her not being able to conceive.

At the time, for the sake of argument, Rancic’s doctor told her she should gain about 10 pounds to boost her odds, but she only put on about 5 and wouldn’t gain anymore because she was working in an image-obsessed industry.

Nevertheless, from that to saying that her tiny and slim frame was the only problem with her not being able to conceive is an extremely “ignorant” thing for people to do, she says in an interview with Radar Online.

There are countless women who are very thin and yet they got pregnant, Rancic says, so this must mean the problem with her lies elsewhere than in her frame, she tells Radar, still hurt about all this talk about her weight.

“Look at Kelly Ripa! She’s half my size and has no body fat and has kids. Giselle (Bundchen) is a supermodel, and I’ve pinched her in real life just to see if she has body fat – zero body fat! Look at Victoria Beckham, she’s on her fourth child,” Rancic explains.

“It’s unbelievable to me the amount of ignorant comments that come in and it’s just uninformed ignorant people. Rachel Zoe is pregnant! To all the haters, get informed! Go Google it… it has nothing to do with anything,” she adds.

To generalize matters like this and simply say that she can’t be a mom because she won’t gain weight is hurtful, the television personality stresses.

“There are thin girls with infertility issues, normal sized girls with infertility issues and overweight girls with infertility issues. Unless your doctor tells you your weight is affecting you in some way… once the doctor rules it out, that’s really not it,” she says.

Giuliana and her husband have documented their struggle to conceive in the reality show “Giuliana & Bill.” They are now considering adoption as a viable option.
