Git, a free and open source distributed version control system designed to handle everything from small to very large projects with speed and efficiency, is now at version 1.8.5.1.

The previous Git 1.8.5 continued the trend of large releases, integrating a big number of changes and fixes, but the new version has been released to fix a single problem.

“git submodule init" copied ‘submodule.$name.update’ settings from .gitmodules to .git/config without making sure that the suggested value was sensible,” reads the official changelog.

This version also incorporates updates for foreign interfaces, subsystems and ports, various UI, Workflows update, and a number of new features. All these have been introduced in the 1.8.5 version.
