Little girls want to “disrupt the pink aisle,” ask for clever toys

An ad for GoldieBlox, building blocks for girls, gives us another perspective on the gender-targeted toys that we have grown so accustomed to.

It shows little girls breaking boundaries, fed up with pink Barbie dolls, stuffed bears and having to take ballet.

One of them uses her ballet shoes to properly ride her skateboard, nailing them to the board with a hammer.

Another brings her teddy bear along for a ride on her bike by building a sidecar for it with her own hands.

The ad spoofs traditional commercials for girls' toys, with all-pink backgrounds, and puts forward the message that girls need to be taught to think and not be “princesses.”

The clip ends by the girls saying that they want to “disrupt the pink aisle,” in toy stores.
