A 12-year-old girl who currently lives in a village in Yemen cries little pebbles instead of tears, and doctors are at a loss for words explaining how and why this happens.

The peculiar medical condition that the 12-year-old is suffering with started to get a lot of media attention after Azaal, i.e. a television channel in Yemen, released a video documenting this bizarre phenomenon.

The footage in question is made available at the end of this article, and it shows the girl lying in a hospital bed. She is surrounded by doctors and relatives.

One of the latter was filmed while gently brushing away the stones that seem to form just under the girl's eyelids whenever she attempts to cry.

By the looks of it, it only takes about an hour for Saadiya Saleh, as this girl is named, to cry enough pebbles to fill a small box.

Oddly enough, the doctors who have had the chance to examine the 12-year-old girl say that, according to the tests they have subjected her to up until now, there is nothing wrong with Saadiya Saleh.

Otherwise put, the girl is not suffering from any medical condition that has until now been documented by science, Mirror explains.

However, some of the people who know Saadiya Saleh, together with many others who have heard about her crying stones instead of tears, suspect that this phenomenon marks the beginning of an epidemic.

Others have opted for a less rational explanation, and believe that the 12-year-old girl is either the influence of some magic spell, or possessed by the devil.

“The case has triggered panic in the area where this girl lives. Some say the girl could be gripped by a magic spell while others say it might be the devil. Others fear it could be the start of a dangerous epidemic,” a local presenter says in the video below.

Hopefully, a detailed investigation into this odd phenomenon will follow, and more information will soon be shared with the public.
