A 13-year-old Girl Scout named Danielle Lei had the genius marketing idea of setting up her cookie shop outside a medical marijuana dispensary in San Francisco. Her ingenious strategy helped her significantly boost sales.

After just 45 minutes, the young girl sold out of Tagalongs, Dulce de Leches and other cookie assortments and had to call for backup in order to replenish the stock. At the end of the day, the savvy scout sold no less than 117 boxes outside the pot shop.

Carol Lei, Danielle’s mother, supervised the sale early last week and she said it was the second time she allowed her two daughters to sell cookies outside The Green Cross. The woman allows her daughters to set up shop in various places around the city in order for them to get to know different environments. In addition, she thinks this is a good opportunity to start a conversation about drugs.

“They learn that they're not drugged out. Many have serious needs, and are just a little different,” said Carol Lei, according to Mashable.

The girl's mother says that selling to pot-smoking customers, who crave for snack foods after smoking weed, is no different than selling to anyone else.

Moreover, The Girl Scouts of Northern California has nothing against Danielle's marketing strategy. Dana Allen, Girl Scouts' spokesperson told Mashable that “Girls are selling cookies, and they and their parents pick out places where they can make good sales. The mom decided this was a place she was comfortable with her daughter being at.”

The Green Cross dispensary also supported the initiative, and employees at the clinic bought several boxes of cookies themselves.

After Danielle's story went viral, 8-year-old Lexi Menees from Phoenix set up shop in front of a TruMed Dispensary establishment. On Friday, Lexi and her parents sold more than 50 boxes of goodies outside the marijuana clinic.
