As if losing nearly all the musical acts that were supposed to entertain folks attending SeaWorld Orlando's Bands, Brew, and BBQ festival were not enough, the marine park has recently received yet another blow.

Not to beat about the bush, it turns out the people in charge of running an elementary school in Malibu, California have decided to cancel this year's traditional trip to SeaWorld.

What's interesting is that, according to Ecorazzi, Point Dume Marine Science Elementary School's managing staff canceled the facility's trip to SeaWorld after a 10-year-old girl by the name Kirra Kotier watched documentary film “Blackfish” and spread the word about the abuses that whales, dolphins and the like suffer at this marine park.

Kirra Kotier first got some of her colleagues' attention. Later on, parents became involved and the entire thing snowballed up to the point where the school's leaders were left with no choice except cancel the trip.

“I am very proud that the school did the right thing. I hope it’s not just a one-year, knee-jerk reaction. I hope they truly understand how wrong it is that these whales are in captivity, and none of us should be paying money to see that,” said Dianette Wells, the parent of three children currently attending this school in California.
