Until not long ago, Breanna Bond was just one of the millions of overweight children from around the world. Today, after losing a staggering 66 pounds (29.9 kg), the 9-year-old girl is an inspiration for many, regardless their age.

Breanna’s weight problems began when she was much younger. By the time she hit 186 pounds (84.3 kg), she was being bullied at school on a daily basis and, more worryingly, had serious problems doing the most common things.

She and her parents were invited on ABC’s Good Morning America to talk about her incredible transformation, as the video below will confirm.

Because of her weight, Breanna was starting to have issues with breathing, and she was always feeling tired.

One day, her mother said it was time for a change: she took her daughter out on the trail and, for every day since then, has accompanied her on the many-mile walk, regardless of weather conditions.

Breanna’s diet was also changed to reflect and keep up with her new workout routine, which, in time, was expanded to include one hour and 15 minutes on the treadmill and all sorts of activities in school as well, like basketball and swimming.

One year later, Breanna is slimmer, healthier and happier.

“Everybody at school would call me names. They would call me fatty, they would call me fat head,” Breanna says about the bullying she was subject to before her incredible transformation.

“She is an inspiration to the world and all children who are having weight issues across America, that you can do it with a pair of tennis shoes and motivation. It’s totally changed the course of her whole life,” her mother, Heidi, says.

Asked what she likes best about having lost so much weight, Breanna explains: “[That] I can be involved in sports and I can keep up with my friends when we’re playing. I can just move more.”
