Last year in November, Gionee unveiled the Marathon M3 in India, as the country’s first Android smartphone to bundle a 5,000 mAh battery under the hood.

Well, this week, Gionne already announced a successor for that phone, which will be launched on the market as the Gionee Marathon M4. And since the producing company mentions the product on its Facebook page, we have to assume the handset will be made available internationally.

Just like the Marathon M3 before it, the M4 will pack a huge 5,000 mAh battery which is apparently capable of providing up to 65 hours of talk time and up to 463 hours of standby (which translates in about 19 days).

Gionee also says that users will be able to listen to music for up to 107 hours, stream video for 16 hours, and play games for up to 13 hours.

Most of M4's specs haven't been revealed

Oher confirmed specifications of the phone include LTE and a sleek metal body. On the other hand, Gionee doesn’t share with us the bulk of the spec list. Not yet.

Last year’s product arrived into the wild with a 5-inch IPS display with 720 x 1280 pixels, a quad-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.3GHz, 1GB of RAM, plus 8GB of internal storage.

Gionee also offers an 8MP/2MP camera setup and dual SIM capabilities. Naturally, this year we expect to see some improvements on board the Marathon M4. The display is bound to stay the same, but hopefully RAM capacity will be bumped up to 1.5GB and default memory will be set at 16GB.

The camera department might also see some improvements, with the selfie snapper transforming into a 5MP affair.

The phone should run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, but this piece of info has not been confirmed yet.

The new Marathon M4 should make it out on the market this month, but so far, Gionee has kept mum on pricing.

In related news, the company is gearing up to roll out the E8 flagship and the controversial M5, which is expected to make a debut into the wild with a dual battery setup. It’s a pretty busy time for Gionee, isn’t it?
