Chinese company Gionee has just released another high-end Android smartphone in India, the Gpad G5. After making headlines with its E7 Life, Gionee plans to attract more Indian customers by offering a slightly cheaper version of its flagship smartphone.

According to fonearena, the Gpad G4 is now available in India for only Rs 18,999 outright, which is about $305 or €225. Customers will be able to grab it online either in black or white color options.

Unlike most high-end smartphones launched by various Indian OEMs, Gionee Gpad G4 features an aluminum unibody chassis, which strongly resembles the HTC One’s look.

Unfortunately, the Gpad G4 ships with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, though we would have expected it to run Android 4.3. A future upgrade is not out of the question, but we doubt that Gionee will have the time to offer any updates for the Gpad G4.

Another selling point of the phablet is the 5.7-inch HD One-Glass Solution (OGS) capacitive touchscreen display that supports 1280 x 720 pixels resolution.

Moreover, the smartphone comes equipped with a 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek 6589T processor, a PowerVR SGX 544MP2 graphics processing unit 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

Indian customers will be pleased to know that the Gpad G4 offers dual-SIM support among other connectivity options. The phone measures 163.5 x 81.3 x 7.95mm and features DTS Sound technology for better multimedia sound.

On the back, the Gionee Gpad G4 boasts a 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash, BSI sensor, f/2.2 aperture and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front, there’s a secondary 5-megapixel camera.

Other highlights of the phablet include: 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS with A-GPS and Bluetooth connectivity, FM Radio, 3.5mm audio jack and 3200 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.
