Chinese handset maker Gionee has already launched quite a few Elife series smartphones, which have become very popular on the market due to their thin form factor and high-end specs.

The next device in the Elife family of smartphones is dubbed Gionee Elife S4.8 and is supposed to go official next month. As its name suggests, the handset will sport a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD (720p) capacitive touchscreen display.

Following the same pattern as the previous models, the Elife S4.8 will be a very slim smartphone measuring only 5mm thickness. The folks over at GizChina have recently spotted the first live pictures showing the unannounced Gionee Elife S4.8.

The smartphone has already been approved by Chinese regulatory commission TENAA and is likely to go official very soon. The smartphone is rumored to pack a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and 1GB of RAM.

The Elife S4.8 is also said to feature an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, a high-capacity 2050 mAh battery and 4G LTE support.

There are no details on the amount of storage the handset will pack, and the photos do not show a microSD card slot on any of the phone’s sides. Hopefully, there will be one under the battery cover. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
