Shortly after Gionee Elife E7 leaked ahead of the official release, another powerful handset wearing Gionee’s brand popped up online. The mini version of the high-end Elife E7 is expected to go on sale in China later today, alongside the phablet version.

Fonearena reports that Gionee Elife E7 mini sports a 4.7-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution, which is considerably smaller than the standard model that features a huge 5.5-inch display.

Although Gionee Elife E7 is said to be the first smartphone to embed Qualcomm’s MSM8974AC Snapdragon processor, the mini version seems to be on par when it comes to processing power.

The Elife E7 mini is expected to ship with MediaTek’s MT6592 true octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz. In addition, the smartphone packs 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. No word on microSD card slot for memory expansion, but we suspect that Gionee added this option as well.

On the back, the smartphone boasts an enhanced 13-megapixel swivel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, but the Elife E7 mini seems to be missing a secondary camera in the front for video calls.

Other highlights of the Gionee Elife E7 include: 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with A-GPS support, Radio FM and 3.5mm audio jack. It is also worth mentioning that the smartphone is powered by a 2100 mAh Li-Ion battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

Software-wise, Gionee Elife E7 mini is rumored to ship with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system with Amigo UI on top.

According to the cited source, the Elife E7 mini will be available for purchase for only 1,800 yuan outright, which is about $295 or €220. Unfortunately, there’s no telling whether Gionee will launch Elife E7 and the mini version in India, but more details on the matter may emerge soon, so stay tuned.
