Chinese company Gionee plans to launch a new phablet in the Mainland, the Elife E7. The smartphone is expected to be officially introduced sometime today and will go on sale soon after.

Also present on the Indian market, Gionee is well known for bringing cheap, but quite decent-featured Android devices in emerging markets.

As fonearena points out, some of Gionee Elife E7’s specs leaked quite a while ago, but for those unfamiliar with the smartphone, here is a quick recap.

The phablet is expected to sport a 5.5-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

Furthermore, the smartphone will be equipped with a 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon processor, 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. No word on microSD card slot yet.

It is also worth mentioning that the non-LTE version of Gionee Elife E7 will be packed with a slightly lower 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 processor and only 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory.

On the back, the smartphone features an impressive 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash, 1/2.3″ 1.34 µm sensor, Sapphire lens and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front, there’s an enhanced 8-megapixel secondary camera.

Other highlights of the Elife E7 include: LTE/3G connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS with A-GPS support, NFC (Near Field Communication), 3.5mm audio jack, DTS audio and 2500 mAh Li-Ion battery.

Keep in mind that both versions of the smartphone will ship with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system with Amigo UI out of the box.

According to the latest hearsay, Gionee Elife E7 will be available for 3300 yuan ($575 / €425) for the 16 GB model, and 3500 ($540 / €400) yuan for the 32 GB variant.
