The update must be downloaded and flashed manually

Chinese OEM Gionee promised last month that it would offer an Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Elife E7 Mini smartphones in India, but did not confirmed when exactly the upgrade would be available for download.

Gionee already delivered the KitKat update for CTRL V5 and Elife S5.5 handsets back in June, so Elife E7 Mini would be the third smartphone launched by the Chinese company in India to receive the upgrade.

However, owners of Gionee Elife E7 Mini should know that they won’t be getting the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update OTA (over the air), so don’t expect any notifications on your device.

Gionee has already announced Android 4.4.2 KitKat for Elife E7 Mini has to be manually downloaded via its support site. After downloading the file, unzip it and make sure you have the following folders: Android Driver Install, E7mini_0201_T8047, and Flash Tool.

In order to flash the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on your Elife E7 Mini you will have to follow the procedure detailed by Gionee on this page. Make sure you back up your device before flashing the KitKat file.

Also, make sure your phone’s battery is at least half charged, as it will take some time for the KitKat installation process to finish.
