We reported recently on the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Gionee’s Elife S5.5, which seems to be the first smartphone launched in India by the Chinese handset maker that gets such an important update.

Shortly after confirming the Android 4.4.2 KitKat availability for the Elife S5.5, Gionee made another surprising announcement for India customers who bought one of its recently launched smartphones, and that’s the fact that the same update is now available for CTRL V5.

Introduced in India earlier this year with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, Gionee CTRL V5 is now eligible for a KitKat upgrade. The update is now pushed OTA (over the air), so not all users might get it at the same time.

Those who have yet to be notified on the update can manually check for it by heading to Settings / About phone / System updates / Check for updates.

The CTRL V5 is not the last smartphone launched by the Chinese company that will receive the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update, as Gionee confirmed that the Pioneer P4 will also get the upgrade in the next couple of days.

Additionally, Gionee announced Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Elife E7 high-end smartphone is now in development and more details on availability will be available soon.
