Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is gearing up for the release of a software update for the LG Revolution smartphone, one of the first 4G LTE-enabled devices the wireless carrier made available for its customers.

As soon as the new update is installed on devices, users will benefit from all of the features and capabilities that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS flavor has to offer, the wireless carrier announced.

There are a great deal of enhancements that users will benefit from following the update, including some that are packed in the new OS flavor by default, along with improvements specific to this mobile phone alone.

The release notes for the new OS upgrade include:

Email & Messaging - Email folders will now display in the correct order. - The maximum attachment size is now set correctly, even when the Exchange service is configured with unlimited size attachments. - Messages can now be stored on the SIM card. View these messages through the Settings menu, “Manage SIM card messages.” - Correctly set Out of Office without having to set a start or end time. - The popup message asking to delete accounts when changing the SIM card now displays correctly.

Device Features

- The cursor has been reshaped for easier text editing. - List menu force close issue has been resolved. - Issues have been fixed involving proper connectivity through the HDMI cable. - Data now works correctly when toggling in Airplane mode.

The new software update will be pushed to devices as version VS910ZV7, the mobile phone carrier announced.

However, they did not offer specific info on when the update is delivered to end users out there but, based on the fact that the release notes for this new firmware have already been published, some suggest that it will be pushed out starting today.

“Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a new software update, Version: VS910ZV7, for your Revolution by LG. This update provides several improvements for your device, as well as upgrading to the latest Android operating system, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread),” the carrier announced.
