A female version of the box office hit “The Expendables” is currently in the works and, judging by the latest development, there’s a lot of pressure to get it out there as soon as possible. Gina Carano has just been attached to the project.

According to producer Adi Shankar, the casting choice was a no-brainer, in that you can’t make a movie like “The Expendables,” the female version, and not have the former MMA fighter and fitness model in it.

“I don’t know how I’m supposed to make a movie that is supposed to be the female version of ‘The Expendables’ without Gina Carano in it. It would be like making Twix without caramel or Jamba Juice without jamba,” Shankar tells Variety, confirming the news that will most certainly surprise absolutely no one.

Right now, all eyes are on whoever will be cast next, because that will tell fans more about what the film is going for: a nearly identical female version of “The Expendables” (which is old school and focuses mostly on one age group) or something entirely different.

Other potential casting choices being thrown around: Milla Jovovich, Linda Hamilton, Lucy Lawless, Sigourney Weaver, Jamie Lee Curtis, Cynthia Rothrock, Lucy Liu, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ali Larter, Kate Beckinsale.
