Gigabyte might not be the talk of the town when it comes to those small-sized, low-power, ultraportable computer systems that we all know as netbooks, but the Taiwanese company has some pretty nice alternatives to the extensive line of ASUS Eee PCs or Acer's latest Aspire One systems. Earlier this year, at CeBIT, the company unveiled its Touchnote T1028M, a convertible touchscreen netbook that provided users with a series of features that were not available on most systems in its category. It now appears that said system has received a configuration update and is currently available as the T1028X, providing users with improved processing power, new display and 6-cell standard battery pack.

According to a recent news-article on the UMPC portal, Gigabyte has recently updated its Touchnote line of products with the introduction of the new and improved T1028X, an updated version of the company's T1028M, announced earlier this year. The enhanced model is said to have been featured with one of Intel's latest Atom processors, the faster Atom N280, boasting a core speed of 1.66GHz, increased resolution to 1366 x 768 pixels and a 6-cell battery pack as a standard feature.

Aside from the aforementioned change in technical specifications, the new netbook boasts the same ExpressCard3/4 slot, a reportedly fast 160GB SATA hard drive, built-in 3G antenna, Bluetooth and WiFi. The netbook has also been featured with a battery meter, while the chassis design will allow end-users to easily upgrade their RAM.

The improved hardware has also left a mark on the system's overall pricing, which is expected to be around $702. The new T1028X is reportedly already available at some European retailers for around €497.70, no tax included. We should soon see a review of the updated Gigabyte Touchnote convertible PC and we will try to keep you posted as soon as details become available.
