Gigabyte has already said its piece today on the market of small form factor and low-cost PCs and components. Still, with consumers' voracious appetite for more being what it is, there is always room for one extra addition. Gigabyte thought it would make several such additions and, thus, did not hold back in its unveiling of a full set of new power supplies. The series goes by the name of PowerRock and, unlike previously-released products, it is composed of members that focus on affordability instead of absolute performance.

Previous news about PSUs centered around more auspicious devices, such as modular designs or especially energy-efficient inventions. This once, Gigabyte did something more generic and did not go out of its way to enable very high power outputs. This led to the PowerRock being made up of 300W, 350W, 400W and 500W versions of the same, more or less, non-modular unit.

All newcomers are compatible with the ATX +12V v2.2 standard and have a pair of 12V rails. They also boast active cooling and can be divided into two categories. The 400W and 500W models are the more competent, not just through their wattages, but also by virtue of their support for the 80 Plus certification and their integration of PFC technology (Power Factor Correction). The 300W and 350W lack both of these features, in order to strike lower price points. Nevertheless, all four are aimed at the masses and seek to become viable purchases amidst troubled economic times.

Unfortunately, and quite ironically, their maker has not actually disclosed the exact prices of either of the four newcomers. Still, it should not be long until they start shipping, at which point this final detail should be revealed. Until then, interested consumers can visit the product pages on the official website for full information by simply following this link.
