Gigabyte is mostly known for its many motherboards and video cards, but it also deals in peripherals, as made abundantly clear by its most recent mouse, a wireless model with LED lighting and a long battery life.

Back when wireless peripherals were first developed, they didn't sell much because of their higher prices and arguably short battery lives.

Since then, however, technology has evolved, semiconductors have moved to much more advanced manufacturing processes and energy use has, all in all, decreased substantially.

Coupled with better technologies and, thus, a higher performance, not to mention user-friendliness and aesthetics, their appeal has actually risen a great deal.

That said, Gigabyte is almost ready to start selling its latest mouse of this wireless variety, although no sort of pricing and availability details are known at the moment.

Fortunately, the official product page does exist (it is located here) so, at the very least, one can see just what to expect from the newcomer.

The new mouse is dubbed Gigabyte ECO600 and has five programmable buttons, plus a laser sensor and a LED system that signals the resolution settings.

Speaking of resolutions, the laser can be set to work at 800, 1,200 and even 1,600 dpi.

In addition to the above, the hardware maker threw in side rubber grips and 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity.

All the above are packed inside a black package measuring 124.5 (L) x 77.6 (W) x 41.8 (H) mm and weighing 106 grams (without batteries).

Of course, in order to actually allow a desktop or notebook to communicate with the product, a receiver is provided, a Nano USB receiver that is.

Finally, the newcomer is kept operational by a pair of AA batteries which can supposedly last for up to 12 months. Full support is ensured for Windows 98/2000/ME/XP 32bit/ Vista/ Win 7.
