AMD's Radeon R9 280X graphics card came out the other day, along with most other R9 and R7 series adapters, and ASUS has a particularly strong version of it ready to get down and rumble.

Called Radeon R9 280X Overclock Edition, it bears the GV-R928XOC-3GD part number and has 3 GB of GDDR5 VRAM.

Said memory operates at 6 GHz over an interface of 384 bits, while the GPU is a 1100 MHz processor with 2,048 GCN (Graphics Core Next) Stream Processors.

DirectX 11.2, AMD PowerTune and CrossFire technology are included in the feature set as well.

As for the cooler itself, it uses three 8mm copper heatpipes, anti-turbulence fans and the "Triangle Cool" Technology that enhances speed of heat dissipation by combining the fins into a special triangle shape.

The Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X should cost just a bit more than $299 / €299.
