Unlike other gaming systems, these two are quite sleek

It’s been a few days since NVIDIA officially detailed the GeForce GTX 980M and 970M GPU chips in relation to the new slew of gaming notebooks.

By now you’re probably aware that the new standard offers faster performance (50% improvement compared to the previous 880M), support for higher resolution displays and a new tech that helps maximize battery life while playing off the chord (or not).

Following NVIDIA’s big announcement, a lot of gaming system manufacturers have announced laptops featuring GeForce GTX 980M or 970M. Most of them bring to the table big screens, chunky batteries and heavy cases. But not all.

There are a few that managed to maintain the compact form factor, like Eurocom’s latest M5 Pro, which we have just detailed for you.

Anyhow, Gigabyte also rolled out two gaming machines which are quite sleek in form. Both of them measure about 0.82 inches / 20.8 mm, so they are slimmer than the Eurocom M5 Pro that has a 1 inch / 25.4 mm profile.

Let’s take a look and see what the two models bring to the table in terms of specifications (as seen at Notebook Check).

Gigabyte P35X

This is the most powerful model of the duo. The device has a 15.6-inch IPS display and is capable of delivering an advanced 2880 x 1620 resolution.

The notebook was fitted with the high-end NVIDIA GTX 980M GPU, which has 1536 processor cores, 1038 MHz clock speed and support for up to 4GB of GDDR5 and 265-bit graphics memory.

The P35X also has a mini DisplayPort and four storage slots (two 512GB mSATA solid state drives and two 2TB hard drives) with a total of 5TB.

Customers will also find a swappable hard drive/optical drive on the inside. Gigabyte mentions we should see the P35X laptop arrive on the market later this month.

Gigabyte P34W

The lower-end model has a smaller display (14-inch) and is bundled with the NVIDIA GTX 970M card. The GPU takes advantage of 1280-cores, 924MHz clock speed and up to 3GB of GDDR5 and 192-bit memory.

Gigabyte hasn’t shared too many details about this particular model, so we can’t even tell you what the resolution onboard will be.

The laptop apparently weighs 3.77 lbs / 1.7 kg which, according to Gigabyte, makes the model 15% lighter than your average gaming notebook. It’s also supposed to be 28% thinner too.

The P34W should hit retail locations in November for an undisclosed price.
