14 DAY TRIAL // Expected to launch just a few days from now, on March 24 to be more precise, the Nvidia GTX 590 has already made its way online via a Chinese website that posted all sorts of details about Gigabyte's implementation of the card, including some Nvidia-run benchmarks that compares it to the AMD Radeon HD 6990.
Since Gigabyte's card doesn't differ in any way from Nvidia's reference solution, the company has decided to distinguish its GTX 590 from the competition by bundling it together with an M8000X gaming mouse and packing the two inside a specially designed plastic box.
While this approach won't add anything in terms of performance, the bundle could steer some potential customers towards Gigabyte's model, provided that all those extras don't raise the price too much.
As for the card itself, this is built using two GF110 cores that are clocked at 607MHz while the 3GB of GDDR5 memory (1.5GB for each GPU) are clocked at 853MHz (3141MHz effective).
These specifications seem to confirm what we previously knew about the GTX 590 and means that Nvidia's dual-GPU solution will be definitely slower than two GTX 580 run in SLI, and even a dual GTX 570 setup.
In addition to the Gigabyte GTX 590 pictures, Taobao also holds some Nvidia official benchmark results that compare the card with AMD's dual-GPU Radeon HD 6990.
I'm not going to concentrate too much on these figures, as it's hard to say under what conditions Nvidia tested the two solutions, but these seem to indicate that the GTX 590 can hold its own against the Radeon HD 6990.
Sadly, no details about the power consumption of the card were provided together with the slides, but rumors seem to point out to a 375W TDP.
As it features dual GPUs paired together in SLI, the GTX 590 is compatible with Nvidia's 3D Vision technology and, as a result, comes equipped with three dual-link DVI and one mini-DisplayPort video outputs.
