The Mio Explora K75 GPS phone was only one of the Windows Mobile-powered devices that were present on the floor of Computex 2009 show in Taiwan. Manufacturers like Acer, Asus or Gigabyte also showcased their products in the area, and one of the WinMo phones that were spotted and caught on camera was the Gigabyte GSmart S1200, which is expected to come to the market as soon as this month.

The device, powered by a Qualcomm 7200A 528MHz processor, also includes 288MB RAM and 512MB ROM. In addition, it boasts a 3.1-inch WVGA display, which can provide a 480 x 800 pixel resolution and features touch capabilities, a 3.0-megapixel photo snapper, coupled with a front-facing camera for video calls, as well as a built-in GPS receiver. The device will come to the market with a Li-Poly 1010 mAh battery.

When it comes to the connectivity capabilities of the phone, we can count UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0 capabilities. The Gigabyte GSmart S1200 should hit the shelves running under Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system, also featuring a brand new user interface that has been named Smart Vision. The company announced that it would upgrade the S1200 to Windows Mobile 6.5 as soon as the platform would become available.

The handset is only 11.4 mm thick, and it seems to feature a rather nice design, complemented by the attractive specifications. According to the news, Gigabyte might be on its way to release a follower of the S1200 in the second half of the ongoing year, one that should come to the market towards the end of the year with an 8-megapixel photo snapper. For the time being, there are no exact details on the successor of the GSmart S1200, but more info should surface in the near future, so stay tuned to learn the news.
