New mini-ITX board shows up, specs look alluring, to say the least

It's nice to introduce to you one of Gigabyte's newest additions to the mini-ITX boards, the GA-H61N-D2V. If you're in search of a small-format board (the GA-H61N-D2V is only 17 cm x 17 cm) but packing a lot of nifty features, this new one might just be the one.

The Gigabyte GA-H61N-D2V can be loaded with Intel SandyBridge CPUs: Core i3, Core i5, or Core i7, if you're looking for the best performance. Depending on the installed processor, you'll get the Intel HD Graphics 2000/3000 chip, delivering enhanced video output compatible with the 1080p HDMI 1.4 specs.

And if you're still not satisfied, you can even have an IvyBridge CPU installed and enjoy DirectX11 compatibility and even more power on tap. Using the Gigabyte GA-H61N-D2V with IvyBridge CPUs will also allow you to use 1600 MHz memory; up to 16 GB of DDR3 memory can be loaded in GA-H61N-D2V's two slots.

No USB 3.0 ports are available though, and no 6 GB/s SATA connectors, so the data transfer speed between storage devices is not at the industry's best. But judging by the small form factor and adding in the UEFI DualBIOS, EasyTune support, 8-channel audio and DVI-I port, the Gigabyte GA-H61N-D2V looks like a serious candidate for a new system with a low footprint on your desktop.
