Since it already has a bunch of tablets on sale, for good or ill, Gigabyte decided to offer an accessory for them.

Enter the D1080, a docking station which, in addition to an optical disk drive, includes an audio system and a whole bunch of connectors: D-sub, USB 2.0 x3, HDMI, RJ45, Earphone-out, Mic-in, DC-in Jack and an Extended battery connection port.

The HDMI interface only works with the S1081 Slate PC. The other supported product is S1080.

These two Windows 7 tablet PCs are oriented towards businesses, but the dock will make it easier for them to be used in more consumer-like ways.

Streaming of video, music and online content come to mind.

Alas, Gigabyte gave no pricing information, so your best bet is to check your local retailers and see if it's up for order there.
