That's right, this is actually a computer with an integrated projector

We've seen lots of hybrid devices in our time, but there are some that just stand out from the rest through sheer unusualness. The Gigabyte BRIX is easily one such “outstanding” invention.

Why, you might ask? Because it is a video projector with integrated PC components, or maybe a personal computer with an integrated projector.

Whichever way you look at it, it's pretty much the same idea in the end. An uncanny, potentially game-changing idea.

After all, if you buy this, you just need an empty patch of wall and voila! No point in getting a TV or anything else like that.

The projector is actually pretty decent, with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, 16:9 Aspect Ratio, 75 Lumen LED backlight.

It might seem weak, but this is a mini projector PC barely large enough to cause a lump in your bag. The sort of thing you can take on a cross-country road trip.

The contrast ratio is 900:1, the image size is of 7 to 85 inches, and the focus is adjustable. There are even 1.5W integrated Dolby Stereo Speakers, and an HDMI input for receiving signal from an outside source if you don't have the film you want on the PC's HDD.

Speaking of the PC, it is a mini system with an Intel Core i3 4010U Processor (Haswell), an mSATA SSD (up to 256 GB), four USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit LAN, Headphone / SPDIF-Out, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 (both wireless features via included Mini-PCIe Module) and up to 16 GB RAM.

"Adding a powerful mini-projector to a device that is extremely portable and compact, opens up a wealth of possibilities and usage scenarios," commented Henry Kao, vice president of GIGABYTE Motherboard Business Unit.

"The BRIX Projector is pushing the boundaries of innovation further than ever, creating a device that breaks the mould in almost all respects."

Sadly, the price of the Gigabyte BRIX Projector is unknown. Since the mSATA SSD, SO-DIMM memory and OS have to be bought separately, the final expenditure can vary really.
