Gigabyte, the Taiwanese producer best known for its motherboards, announced two new GPS PDA phones, GSmart MW700 and GSmart MS800, handsets that provide full business applications support as well as multimedia features.
The phones will be first showcased at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, between 11 and 14 February (in less than one week), together with other new products, including a Mobile TV phone and a 3.5G Data-Card device.

GSmart MW700 and GSmart MS800 are presented as "slim GPS PDA phones", both coming at a thickness of only 14.95 mm, which is not much at all for devices with built-in GPS. Moreover, GSmart MS800 is said to be the slimmest 3.5G GPS phone and I guess we must believe that.

GSmart MW700 is powered by a Marvell PXA270 CPU at 520 MHz, provides EDGE connectivity and runs on Windows Mobile 6 Professional for efficient communication and data management. The handset has a wide 2.8 inch touchscreen display and a 2 Megapixel camera that will probably allow users to take pictures at a decent quality. Other specs about MW700 have not been revealed yet.

GSmart MS800 has the same simple look as the MW700 model, and if it weren't for the slightly changed specs no one could have differentiated the two devices. MS800 comes with the same 2.8 inch touchscreen, the same 2 Megapixel camera, the same Marvell PXA270 520 MHz CPU and runs on the same version of Windows Mobile (6 Professional) and brings HSPDA connectivity, absent on the MW700 model. The device also offers Bluetooth 2.0 (with EDR, A2DP and AVRCP), FM Radio with RDS, mini USB, Music and video player, Windows Mobile Direct Push E-Mail, Windows Live Messenger and microSD card support.

For a 360° view of GSmart MS800 you should check the Gigabite site at this address. The presentation is in Chinese, but the view doesn't need any translation :)

A release date for GSmart MW700 and GSmart MS800 was not announced, but both phones should come soon after the Mobile World Congress.
