Taiwanese manufacturer Giga-byte has presented their latest DVB-T, DVB-H, DAB and T-DMB Windows Mobile based devices, the GSmart t600 and GSmart q60 at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona.

The q60 is Giga-byte Communications first 3.5G/3.5 PDA phone and part of GBC's GSmart mobile phone family. GSmart is the leader in mobile TV application plus technology on Windows Mobile platform with great success worldwide. Up until now, Giga-byte has only released analogue TV devices.

The first device to feature digital terrestrial TV, that was presented at 3GSM is the GSmart t600. The Windows Mobile 6 Professional powered smartphone features tri-band GSM/GPRS, WiFi b/g and Bluetooth 2.0.

It is powered by an Xscale running at 520 Mhz and also comes with a 2.6 inch VGA touchscreen, 256MB ROM, 96MB RAM and a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion. The most important thing about the t600 however, is its support for DVB-H, DVB-T, T-DMB and DAB radio, which means that it will enable the user to watch TV at any time or place, on a large screen with VGA resolution.

As design, the q60 is somewhat similar to Nokia's E61 business mobile phone. The tri-band GSM/EDGE and HSDPA 2100 handset comes with GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth for connectivity and sports a 2.1 megapixel camera on the back as well as a VGA camera on the front for video calling. It also comes equipped with an Xscale CPU running at 520Mhz and includes support for digital TV and digital DAB radio.

The t600 will be released in early Q2 of the year in Taiwan and then also launched in Europe in early summer. Availability for the q60 hasn't been announced so far, but it too will most likely be released before early summer. There is no information on the price of any of the two handsets.
