GigaBlue, a German HD receivers manufacturer, has just updated the firmware for its HD Quad tuners. Unfortunately, version 2.0-20130307 comes with no changelog.

The HD Quad tuner we're talking about is a Linux OS based media player, with multimedia archive reader for video and audio over network, PiP (Picture in picture), web browser, UFScontrol (a plug-in for iOS and Android based smartphones), IP TV and IP radio.

Connectivity options are numerous and include DVB-S/S2 Twin input, one HDMI port, two USB, one S/PDIF port, the three RCA's for component, composite, left and right, ethernet connection, E-SATA and an RS-232 port.

GigaBlue offers the optional remote control/keyboard with the devices.

The HD Quad will set you back $415(€319) but, according to people that already own one, it's well worth the money considering the speed of its Broadcom BCM7356 processor.

Below are the links to the firmware. Download, install and stay “updated one minute ago.”
