Most people work on the assumption that, since the human colon is not exactly the belle of the ball, there is no need to mention it in casual conversations and/or pay all that much attention to it.

However, as ignored as this part of our anatomy might be, the fact remains that the colon can sometimes constitute a threat to one's wellbeing and even to one's life.

This is because colorectal cancer and other similar medical conditions are just as dangerous as other diseases people do not shy away from talking about.

In order to raise some awareness with respect to how important it is to not neglect one's colon, Cheryssa Jensen recently (this past Friday, to be more precise) brought a 20-feet (about 6 meters) long replica of this part of the human body to New York City and set it up in Times Square.

This allowed people to catch a glimpse of what their own colon looks like by taking a tour of its oversized twin brother. Sources report that this fake colon displays three-dimensional representations of Crohn's disease, colorectal polyps and the different stages of colon cancer, whose purpose is that of teaching people about the health threats they are likely to face if they fail at properly looking after themselves.
