These days, it's all about Easter eggs, and bakers and chocolatiers are getting creative to make the most amazing eggs for their clients.

A highly talented French chocolatier by the name of Thierry Atlan is taking Easter up a notch this year unveiling a delicious and beautifully adorned chocolate egg at Sugar and Plumm, a bistro and sweet shop on the Upper West Side of New York.

The fully edible Easter masterpiece is made out of white, dark and milk chocolate, and took two weeks to construct. It is adorned with three-dimensional rabbits and hand-painted clocks and gears with gold details, and can be yours for $5,000 (€3,600), Metro reports.

“The egg represents the universe, and all of these bunnies are running from the corners of the world trying to be on time for Easter,” Sugar and Plumm's owner and founder Lamia Jacobs said.

The 30-inch by 19-inch (76-cm by 48-cm) chocolate sculpture weighs 40 pounds (18 kg), and is on display for visitors for now, but it is also up for sale at the Sugar and Plumm store.

Besides its tempting sweet taste, this piece of culinary art proves that amazing things can be made with chocolate.

However, if you don't want to completely empty your bank account at Sugar and Plumm, the bistro is also offering some more affordable spring sweets, like customized white chocolate eggs, blue-eyed bunnies, and hens with candy-coated eggs.
