Slim and lightweight are definitely nice qualities for mobile phones, but the new king of handsets is far from having these attributes, and has all the chances to be
designated the biggest functional cell phone in the world.

A Mr. Tan, resident of Songyuan, China, worked about half a year to create a huge handset, based on its normal mobile phone, reports Ananova. The giant phone is 3 feet tall (91 cm) and weighs 48 pounds, meaning almost 22 kilograms. Compared to modu, which is officially the lightest mobile phone in the world (40 grams), the Chinese mobile phone is about 550 times bigger. Now that's what I call "opposite".

Of course, the term "mobile phone" is a bit forced in the case of Mr. Tan's creation, as you wouldn't really want to carry it too often. Anyway, Mr. Tan says the phone works well, the only functional difference between it and his normal handset being the fact that the vibrate feature is not included in the giant device. Which is good, because no one would want 22 kilos of plastic and other materials to vibrate around, producing earthquakes in the neighborhood, right?

Mr. Tan is what we'd call an electronics geek, and he's been thinking about the immense mobile phone for more than one year. Now he finally got the chance to make it and hopes the device will have a place into the Guinness World Records book. There will be many tests before this can happen, but if the phone indeed works properly, as the Chinese man says, I assume it will have no trouble at all to enter the Guinness book.

Mr. Tan apparently did not give a name to its creation, but in case he will do it, we have some suggestions: the Behemophone, the Colossophone, or the Hulkophone (not from hulking, but from Hulk Hogan who, if dressed in orange, would look fabulous with Mr Tan's phone in his arms).
