Ghostbusters: The Video Game is a title that was developed by Red Fly Studio and was published by Atari, Inc.
The game was launched on the PlayStation 2 home gaming console from Sony and on the Nintendo Wii, with support for motion tracking.
The title arrived during the month of June 2009.
The game can be classed as an action game that is played from third person perspective, includes elements taken from the science fiction and shooter genres and is based on a licensed property.
The Ghostbusters video game was announced and marketed as being a direct sequel to the two movies that have achieved cult status.
The player gets to control a new comer to the team of supernatural fighters, called simply Rookie, who joins the veteran as they investigate a new wave of supernatural energy that hits New York.
A number of characters from the movie return and a number of locations are reused but most of the game is original in choice of areas visited and enemies fought.
The proton pack and the traps are the major weapons of the Ghostbusters and all enemies need to be weakened before they can be captured.
