Not the 3000-year-old movie, but ZootFly's game for the 360

If you were hoping you'd get your hands on a copy some time soon, forget about it, not gonna happen. Aykroyd blew the cover on the whole thing. In an interview with The Sun, the famous actor made a statement which let the world know exactly what stage of development the game is going through.

"Universal Studios purchased the rights from Sony for a game [...] "I'm actually going to have to perform and do some motion capture for them. That will be next year." So, voila! It looks like some time in 2008, we'll see the title's release and that of course, if everything goes smooth.

The game is most likely going to be an exclusive Xbox 360 release but the publisher is still unknown.

After showing some in-game prototype movies and some artwork gathered here and there about the game, ZootFly was faced with having to admit that progress on the game is rather slow. They also made it official trying to ensure that all is not lost: "We are very glad to see the overwhelming response to the Ghostbusters prototype movies. What you've seen is indeed in-game footage of early prototypes on the Xbox 360, running on ZootFly's proprietary engine. Due to licensing issues, further development of the Ghostbusters game hit a bump on the road, but everybody here at ZootFly is working actively on resolving the challenges with the owners of the Ghostbusters IP."

So, adding Dan Aykroyd's statement to what we already know about the game's evolution, meaning nothing, we can rest assure that the game isn't going to be launched any time soon. You'll just have to find a haunted castle or something and assault it with household items if you want any ghost related experiences. At least for now.
