Following confirmation straight from Sierra Entertainment and Sony Pictures Consumer Products that a new Ghostbusters game was in the works, the game's quite nifty website reveals the first solid information about the game. As most people know (or should know), some 80 percent of the information our brains process every day comes in through our eyes, so what could be more solid than a bunch of game screenshots, right?

Ghostbusters The Game will feature the original film cast from Columbia Pictures' classic Ghostbusters films, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson, "back again for the first time in more than 20 years", as the official announcement read. The gameplay, of course, will consist of paranormal-plague-eradicating within New York City, as players will be equipped with an array of Ghostbusters-typical weapons and gadgets. The game promises to be both funny and frightening at the same time, just like the old movie.

"Sierra Entertainment is extremely excited to not only deliver fans, old and new, this next chapter in the Ghostbusters universe, but to allow them inside the universe for the first time," said Martin Tremblay, president, Worldwide Studios for Sierra Entertainment, at the time the two companies were making the big announcement. "Our collaboration includes working closely alongside the team at Sony Pictures Consumer Products, Terminal Reality and Red Fly Studio. Together we will create the ultimate Ghostbusters experience, full of the characters, ghosts and other paranormal creatures so many have come to adore over the years."

The six screenshots below are Xbox 360 grabs and while this is all Sierra Entertainment has made available so far, fans of the Ghostbusters franchise should know that the game launches across several of today's most popular platforms: Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PC and DS.

The Ghostbusters game official website holds more information on the upcoming game, including an ad that "Ghostbusters is Hiring." Applications can't be filed until November 30th, but check it out anyway - it's nice and green and has a lot of typical Ghostbusters elements.
